Aleisha LaNae’ Allen

Aleisha LaNae’ Allen is a professional actress, performance artist, nationally certified speech-language pathologist, educator, and advocate, whose career is constantly evolving to connect all of her worlds into one.

Through a career that spans entertainment, education, advocacy, and healthcare, Aleisha has remained dedicated to one central mission: helping people connect, communicate, and create.

From using her voice to helping others find theirs.

A Bronx-born, lifelong performer, on her own accord with the support of her parents, Aleisha began pursuing her professional career in television, film and commercial work at the young age of three years old, building an extensive body of work that includes starring and recurring roles in beloved children's programming, as well as major motion pictures. She is best known to audiences as “Sidetable Drawer” on Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues, and as herself, “Aleisha”, on Disney Channel’s Out of the Box, where she spent years helping inspire creativity and learning in young viewers. Her film credits include, School of Rock, Are We There Yet?, Are We Done Yet?, The Best Man, and others, in addition to numerous international commercials, print campaigns, and live performances. She attended the Professional Performing Arts High School (PPAS), studying Musical Theater. When she was home in New York, intermittently between filming and performing to attend classes in person, she poured equally into, both, her performance and the academic courses, landing her several accolades before and after graduation. In 2013, she was awarded the Honorary Alumnae of the Year, “for leadership, inspiration, and continued support to the Professional Performing Arts School and the performing arts community”. Throughout her entertainment career, she worked alongside some of the industry's most respected artists while developing a deep appreciation for communication, storytelling, performance, and human connection.

Aleisha is a pioneer and a boss, when it comes to the business of her life and the purpose of all her endeavors. Driven by a desire to understand and support the many ways people express themselves, in her senior year of high school, Aleisha made her next big decision, which was to pursue academic studies in Communication Science and Disorders. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Pace University’s Pforzheimer Honors College, as well as a Master of Science from Columbia University’s Teachers College, specializing in Speech-Language Pathology. Her honors thesis, Breaking the “Cycle of Inadequacy”: Enhancing the Component of Counseling in the Field of Communication Sciences & Disorders, reflected an early commitment to advocacy, counseling, and empowering individuals through communication.

Today, Aleisha is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, clinical educator, and proud healthcare worker, holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintaining licensure across several states, including her home state. Her clinical expertise spans across the lifespan in speech, receptive/expressive language, cognitive-communication, voice, and feeding/swallowing disorders, with notable experience serving medically complex populations in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, telepractice settings, and private practice. Despite these achievements, she prides herself on being a “forever student”, as she believes that one never ceases to learn, or further develop their skillset.

Communication, like performance, is a craft.

Her professional career has included leadership and administrative roles within major healthcare systems, including (formerly named) Methodist Hospital of Southern California in Arcadia and NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem Hospital. At Harlem Hospital, she helped establish and reinstate outpatient speech-language pathology services for further outreach to populations reflected in the community, served on the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Team, and was selected as a member of the hospital's Ethics Committee. She has also served as an adjunct professor, clinical instructor, and supervisor at Columbia University’s Teachers College, mentoring future speech-language pathologists and helping shape the next generation of clinicians.

In 2026, she received a special honor from U.S. Customs and Border Protection for “her innovative therapeutic techniques and dedicated instruction that helped a federal officer regain speech clarity following extensive oral injuries.”

What distinguishes Aleisha’s career is the seamless connection between her artistic and clinical pursuits. Early, she was able to identify the unique overlap between the two professions. As a performer, she learned the power of voice, expression, and human connection. As a speech-language pathologist, she helps others reclaim and strengthen those same abilities and more. Her work reflects a commitment to communication in all its forms—whether through performance on stage and screen, teaching in the classroom, advocacy in the community, or clinical care in healthcare settings.

In addition to her professional work, Aleisha is an advocate for arts education, mentorship, and community service. She is a Co-Founder and Board Member of the Professional Performing Arts High School Alumni Collective and continues to champion opportunities for young artists, students, and individuals seeking to find and use their voices with confidence. She also serves as Clinical Supervisor for Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPAs), ensuring compliance with ASHA Scope of Practice standards and applicable state and facility regulations.

Through a career that extends entertainment, education, and healthcare, Aleisha has remained dedicated to one central mission: helping people connect, communicate, and create. She prides herself on showing up, being hard working, multifaceted, remaining an active learner, and makes giving back a priority through her work as a practitioner, performer, and in her personal life.

Education has always been a priority in her upbringing, and performance arts has always been an underlying passion. She is working now to discover more about where and how her two careers intersect, and create opportunities that will continue to inspire others to make professionalism their own personalized endeavor.
